Population in Poverty

Poverty rates in Washington D.C. Metropolitan Statistical Area are low when compared to the benchmark regions. According to the latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau, 8.7 percent of D.C. residents were below the poverty level in 2014. The share of children under the age of 18 in poverty was 11.1 percent.
