Racial & Ethnic Diversity

The Washington D.C. Metropolitan Statistical Area is much more racially and ethnically diverse than its benchmark peers. According to the latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau, 25.2 percent of D.C. residents are Black or African American, the second-largest percentage of all the benchmark regions. 9.9 percent of residents are Asian, 15.1 percent are Hispanic or Latino and 46.8 percent are White.
