The City of Washington’s overall crime rate was 6,1978 per 100,000 population in 2014, up 7 percent from 2013 and the third-largest crime rate of the 11 benchmark regions. The city experienced high rates of forcible rape, robbery and aggravated assault among all benchmark regions.
