Washington D.C.’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined to 4.3 percent in September 2015, down 0.7 percentage points from the September 2014 rate. D.C.’s jobless rate was below the benchmark average of 4.5 percent and had the 5th lowest unemployment rate of all benchmark peers.

The metropolitan region with the highest unemployment rate was Los Angeles at 5.7 percent; Austin had the lowest unemployment rate in September 2015 at 3.1 percent.
